Soil Care for Healthier Trees in Cherokee County

When Soil Conditions May Be Part of the Problem

Possible signs include reduced growth, thinning canopy, leaf discoloration, drought stress, repeated decline without an obvious pest problem and poor root-zone conditions. These signs can have many causes, so assessment should come before treatment.

What Soil Care May Address

The current Beasley program includes nutrient adjustment and pH adjustment with the goal of creating better growing conditions for tree roots. Add any soil-testing or application details only if the actual company process is confirmed.

Why Urban and Residential Soils Are Different

Soil around homes, roads and developed properties is often disturbed by grading, compaction and changes in drainage or organic matter. Trees that evolved in forest soil may respond differently when roots are confined to a lawn or heavily altered site.

Arborist Assessment First

Before recommending treatment, document the tree species, visible symptoms, root-zone conditions, recent construction or grade changes, irrigation and other relevant site factors.
